Supplies: notebook, writing utensil, & BYOT

Daily Objective: To practice peer-editing of stories

Bell-Ringer: “Regrets, Not Regerts” – What’s your biggest regret? How would your life have been different if you’d made another decision?

Activity:

  1. Invite three classmates to view your blog. Make sure they can access your story.
  2. Read three short stories from your peers. Comment on each.

To get full credit, you need to comment about at least two things in the story, something that worked and something that didn’t.

Bad Comments:

  • I didn’t like your story. It was pretty awful imo.
  • I don’t really understand what happened.
  • At least it’s punctuated correctly.

Good Comments:

The thing that worked best in your story was the characters. I think Beth most of all really came full circle from the quiet person she was in the beginning, because in the last paragraph, she stood up for herself.

Something that didn’t work about your story was the descriptions. Several of them felt rushed, especially the action scene at the beginning of the second part. I think maybe if you went into more detail, you could ground the reader better in the story.

Homework:

  1. Finish your comments by tomorrow in class. These should be posted on the blogs, copied, and emailed to me or printed out and turned in.
