Daily Objective: LAFS.1112.RL.1.2: Students will learn how to start analyzing themes and central ideas in drama.

Bell-Ringer: Write two sentences. Each should use one of the following words correctly.

  • Pious: devoutly religious; or making a hypocritical display of virtue.
  • Deference: humble submission and respect.

Bell-Ringer: “No Fair” – Tell us about something you think is terribly unfair — and explain how you would rectify it.

Activity: 

  1. How to Sound Smart When Talking about Poetry
  2. Read “Love Letter (Clouds)” by Sarah Manguso
    1. Talk about it.
    2. Start writing a response poem. (This will be due at the end of class tomorrow.)

Homework:

  1. The final draft of your story is due 9/23.
