Daily Objective: To practice peer-editing of stories

Bell-Ringer: “Butterflies in Your Stomach” Write about the last thing that made you giddily excited.

Activity:

  1. Make comments on three peers’ stories. These are due today. See yesterday’s post for more instructions.
  2. Make improvements on your short stories. Your summative grade for this assignment is based on improvement between your first draft and your final draft. This is due 9/16.

Homework:

  1. Finish your comments by today in class. These should be posted on the blogs, copied, and emailed to me or printed out and turned in.
  2. The final draft of your story is due 9/16.

Daily Objective: LAFS.1112.W.1.1: Students will practice writing arguments to support claims.

Bell-Ringer: No bell ringer this week.

Activity: VLT: Complete read the text and plan a 5-paragraph essay that answers the prompt on the back of the page.

You have class today, and half of Friday left to complete this task. Planning is optional, but it can count as an additional grade if you complete it.

Activity: VLT: Complete task 1, starting on p. 103 of your VLT packet.

Read the articles on pages 107-110. Answer the questions on page 111. Then write a five paragraph essay on the prompt on page 112.

You have class today, and half of Friday to complete this task. Planning is optional, but it can count as an additional grade if you complete it.
