Daily Objective: LAFS.1112.RL.1.2: Students will learn how to analyze two or more themes or central ideas of a text.

Bell-Ringer: Write a sentence each that uses the following words correctly:

  • Somber: adj. grave or even gloomy in character
  • Ordinance: n. an authoritative rule

Activity: 

  • Continue watching Good Night, and Good Luck
  • Study questions are due the day after we finish the movie
  • Additional question:

    Answer the following in a paragraph: The Crucible, a play by Arthur Miller, is about a witch hunt. Given what you have learned about McCarthyism, why do you think Miller wrote The Crucible? Why did he choose to set it in the past instead of the present?

  1. Make improvements on your short stories. Your summative grade for this assignment is based on improvement between your first draft and your final draft. This is due 9/16.
